Screw Driven Vertical Platform Lift Installation in Beautiful Northamptonshire Country House

Tower Lifts is delighted to be working with the Kelmarsh Trust on the installation of two screw-driven vertical platform lifts in the elegant surroundings of Kelmarsh Hall. Set in the rolling Northamptonshire countryside, the Hall was built in the eighteenth century and has been home to industrialists, politicians and a racehorse enthusiast. It is now under the care of the Trust, provides visitors with a glimpse into the past, and is a popular venue for conferences and weddings all year round.

Kelmarsh Develops Educational Facilities

Recently Kelmarsh received a lottery grant in order to refurbish the basement area of the house, and an extensive project is underway to provide an educative resource for schools and community groups to experience ‘life below stairs’ through hands-on activities such as bread-making, laundry and textiles. The anticipation of this increased footfall has led the Trust to enhance the existing access facilities within the house, by installing two platform lifts.

Why Choose a Platform Lift for Kelmarsh Hall?

Screw Driven Vertical Platform Lifts

The elegant architecture of the eighteenth century was not designed to accommodate vertical transport, and whilst twenty-first century visitors require enhanced access, any lift transportation needs to work to the limitations imposed by the original build. The Tower Lifts team of designers and installers have encountered this problem in a number of historic buildings across the UK and the best solution is the screw driven platform lift. This model of vertical transport comprises up to six screw driven units and is operated hydraulically. It is free-standing which means that the shaft is quick and easy to install as it doesn’t require extensive building or engineering work. The passenger cabin is large enough to accommodate wheelchair users and it has all the health and safety features that you would expect to find in a traditional lift installation.

Platform Lift Installation Brings History to Life

Whilst the lift is a relatively recent invention, the Tower Lifts team enjoys working with Trusts to ensure that the rich and varied history encapsulated in the walls of heritage houses such as Kelmarsh is accessible to as many people as possible. Over the years we have gained a reputation with our clients for providing maximum efficiency with the minimum disruption due to our careful planning and scheduling. Safety remains at the heart of all we do, and our highly trained installers understand the need to heightened vigilance when working in public spaces.

Making history come to life for every visitor to Kelmarsh Hall is an ambition we’re proud to share with the Trustees of this beautiful building.
