Queens Wharf Lift Installations
Engineering a Solution – Custom-Built for Compliance and Comfort
Standard lift solutions don’t work for every building, and this was certainly the case with the Queens Wharf lift installations. The iconic London development, located on the bank of the Thames, and next to the famous Hammersmith Bridge presented the Tower Lifts team with a complex challenge.
When standard specifications fail, bespoke engineering takes over. The Queen’s Wharf project required a dual-transport solution – a dedicated goods lift for logistics and a high-specification passenger lift for residents. The challenge? Achieving full regulatory compliance in a lift shaft with non-standard dimensions.
We engineered a bespoke traction system capable of delivering smooth, 4-stop travel despite the reduced headroom. By customising the drive system and cabin geometry, we successfully installed a robust 8-person car that meets every safety standard—proving that physical constraints don’t have to mean compromising on performance.
Managing the Queens Wharf Installation – Project Stages
Complex installations in high-profile London buildings obviously require detailed planning. Here is how the Tower Lifts team managed the Queens Wharf project from beginning to end:
- Consultation & Briefing – We worked closely with our client to understand the design of the building and their requirement for dual-transport (goods and passenger) capabilities.
- A Dual-Purpose Solution for Restricted Space – Identifying the reduced headroom as a critical constraint, we engineered a versatile Goods/Passenger lift.
- Bespoke Design – Offering the aesthetics and safety compliance of an 8-person passenger car for residents, while supplying the structural durability required for heavy goods transport. This “two-in-one” approach maximises the building’s use without requiring a second shaft.
- Installation – Tower Lifts engineers carried out the installation. Even in a structure that seemed unsuitable for standard lifts, our team integrated the systems seamlessly.
- Handover & Support – The lifts were delivered with our aftercare package, so our client knows that prompt technical support is only ever a call away.
