Passenger Lift for Southend Apartment Block
The seaside town of Southend in Essex has remained a lively spot for visitors and holiday-makers ever since the construction of the ‘world’s longest pier’ in the late 1900s. Since then its proximity to London has ensured its popularity, and the town’s vibrant High Street has transformed itself many times in the past 150 years to cater to the tastes of its tourists. Currently the newly refurbished Victoria Shopping Centre is revitalising the upper High Street, and Tower Lifts are delighted to be making their own contribution to the area’s regeneration by installing a passenger lift in one of the High Street’s historic properties.
8 Person Passenger Lift for 3-5 High Street, Southend
3-5 High Street has until recently comprised 3 floors of office suites. The current owners are refurbishing the building to create contemporary apartments housed in the classic architecture of a bygone age. We were asked to install an 8-person passenger lift which would travel over five floors, ensuring that these desirable residencies would be accessible to a range of potential occupants.
Lift Finishes Reflecting the Style of Surroundings
We were asked to provide specific finishes for our passenger lift installation, in keeping with the overall design of the apartment building. The urban contemporary feel which characterises the public areas of the building is reflected in the bold orange perpendicular signage on the passenger lift doors, whilst the historic nature of the building is represented by elegant Art Deco moulding which frames the metallic elevator doors, reminding passengers of the contrasting past and the present features which combine to create the context for their apartments.
Tower Lifts Works with Clients to Enhance Refurbished Buildings
A passenger lift installation sits at the heart of an apartment block; it provides access but it also links the disparate floors and occupants together, forming a community. As such, it’s important that a communal passenger lift is reliable, safe and in keeping with the aesthetic of the building. By contrast, buildings with shabby and/or creaking passenger lifts communicate a lack of pride, care or aspiration and can quickly lower the value of the property as a whole. The Tower Lifts team are always excited to contribute to a dynamic aesthetic, and we enjoy working closely with developers on a concept or vision we can enhance.
