Lift Installations for The Royal Academy of Arts In London

A couple of years back, the Tower Lifts team proudly announced its inclusion in a major project at the Royal Academy of Arts, at Burlington House in London. As of right now, we’re even prouder to say we’re officially on the job and producing incredible results in this historic building.

We’re installing two lifts in this London landmark – the first of which being a two-stop passenger lift with a 2000kg capacity, finished as per the architect’s design and with both reduced headroom and pit. The second lift is needed for moving art over 4 floors, which has a 4000kg capacity and an extra-large cabin with special doors measuring 2.5m high.

As with all historic structures, the building at the Royal Academy of Arts posed its own unique set of challenges and restrictions. With more than 15 years’ experience and expertise, we know exactly what it takes to get the job done – creativity, innovation and uncompromising commitment to quality.

The Royal Academy of Arts

royal academy of artsSituated right in the heart of the capital, the Royal Academy of Arts was founded to generate and promote greater interest in and awareness of art. The institution has been housed in the same building for more than 100 years, occupying a prime plot on Piccadilly. Built in the 17th century, our job was to install a cutting-edge lift that would in no way affect the beauty or history of the building’s interiors.

Important buildings like Burlington House represent some of the most challenging environments in which to work. Often featuring non-standard shapes, layouts and general specifications, these aren’t the kinds of buildings that were designed with cutting-edge lift systems in mind. But in order to meet with modern building regulations and disability legislation, comprehensive and seamless access to all key levels must be provided.

Here at Tower Lifts, challenging buildings and demanding projects are our specialty. Over the past 15 years, we’ve put our experience and expertise to work in historic, listed and important buildings of all shapes and sizes. Even when restrictive space rules out traditional elevators, you can count on Tower Lifts to get the job done.
