Enhancing Children’s Access to Education through the Installation of a Passenger Lift at Chadwell Primary School in Romford, Essex

Tower Lifts has been asked by the London Borough of Redbridge Council to install a passenger lift in Chadwell Primary School. Previously we have worked with the Council on successful passenger lift installations at the Seven Kings High School, and the Glade Primary School and we’re delighted to have been given an opportunity to complete the ‘hat trick’.

Tower Lifts Provide Part M Compliant Lift for Chadwell Primary

Many schools housed in older properties, such as Chadwell, face the conundrum of needing to enhance the access they can offer to students with limited mobility, whilst lacking the headroom and pit clearance which would allow for the installation of standard passenger vertical transport. Tower Lifts have dealt with this particular problem in a range of public sector properties such as libraries, museums, hospitals and schools, and we have successfully installed Machinery Directive passenger lifts as a solution. Machinery Directive or Part M Compliant lifts operate at a ‘slow’ speed of 0.15m/s or below. As a consequence these lifts require less pit and headroom clearance, making them the ideal fit for older buildings, or inner city properties subject to restrictive planning regulations.
