Tower Lifts to Install 3 New Car Park Lifts for Selfridges

Tower Lifts are proud to announce a new contract with the world-famous department store Selfridges. This contract will involve the installation of 3 new car park lifts for their Oxford Street store in London.

This is the second lift we have installed for Selfridges, having previously installed a goods/passenger lift in the same location last year. The previous lift was a bespoke passenger lift designed to suit the uniquely sized lift shaft in the sub-basement, back of house.

Tower Lifts were chosen by Selfridges because of the high level of professionalism and craftsmanship we displayed while completing the previous project. Our talented lift technicians completed the installation on-time and on-budget, minimising disruption for their business.

The new project is 3 adjacent 8-stop,13-person passenger lifts providing access from the stores multi-storey car park to all shop floors. We are very excited about this project and eager to deliver another world-class lift for this incredible company.

Founded in 1909, Selfridges is a chain of high-end apartment stores with 4 locations — Oxford Street in London, Trafford Centre in Manchester, Exchange Square in Manchester and Bullring in Birmingham. Their flagship store in London is the second largest shop in the United Kingdom, including 50,000 m² of selling space.

Selfridges is one of the most famous department store chains in the world and has been the subject of two popular television shows — The BBC’s 2012 series ‘The Paradise’ and ITV’s 2013 series ‘Mr Selfridge’. We are so excited about the bespoke triplex lift installation we have designed for the store and look forward to completing the project.

Selfridge’s Bespoke Car Park Lift

The new car park lift is a triplex lift installation (consisting of three adjacent lifts). It will feature an elegant design with patterned stainless steel and in-cabin video screens to play advertisements to passengers. This bespoke car park lift will have 8-stops, be capable of carrying 13 people per lift, and travel at a speed of 1.6 metres per second.

We have installed a number of bespoke car park lifts previously, but rarely do we get the chance to install one in such a beautiful old building. Our designers are very excited about creating a beautiful triplex lift installation that matches the design aesthetic of Selfridges.
